The inside cover is covered with a detailed ornate paisley-mandala pattern. The frame is covered with a different paisley pattern of turquoise and aqua on a crimson background. Inside the frame, the space is divided up into rectangular compartments. These compartments are arranged in a spiral from the largest to the smallest in the center. In each of these compartments is a drawer covered with a a photo of different vivid blue mineral samples, with the exception of the center drawer which has a yellow mineral sample. These drawers are removable with a pearlescent button acting as a knob. With the drawers removed, in the background of each individual compartment are photos of albino animals. We also see that the partitions holding the drawers are covered with the text from the story “The Bee-Man of Orn,” by Frank R. Stockton. The inside bottom of the drawers are lined with clippings from a map of Brazilian rivers and each of these drawers contains an arrangement of small oxidized metal objects, thin strips of glass and seashells. All these mini-assemblages are captioned with a word or snippet of text. The center square compartment is open with a piece of mirror in the background. This altered book is not signed or dated.
