The inside cover is backed with a wallpaper sample showing vertical stripes of muted colors, some with a diagonal line pattern. Mounted on the bottom of this cover is a container box whose sides are covered with a photo of a white interior room, and its top features a found black-and-white, out-of-focus photo of two people facing away from the camera. On the inside lid and bottom of this box are color illustrations of police investigating an apartment crime scene. This small box contains a set of eight square cards featuring single words on the back and figures and creatures from an expansive, ancient Hindu painting on the front. Above the box on the front cover are two holders constructed from felt and opaque, dark glass. Four similar holders are mounted in a grid inside the framed section. Each of these six holders is fronted with a clipping of a word definition from a miniature dictionary. The words defined are, intrigue, allure, fascinate, enchant, scheme, and connive. Each holder grips a removable tile collaged with a black-and-white photo of a process in a chemical experiment using household material. The reverse side of these tiles are photos of various 1930s children. The frame is covered with the Van Gogh painting of his yellow chair. The side panels show the legs of Sir Walter Raleigh from a portrait painting. The top and bottom inside panels of the frame are color illustrations of an alligator and a lizard. A pair of red dice sit atop the alligator. The whole frame section is backed by a 1962 color photo of an elaborate flower garden.
